Understanding the Civics Test
The US citizenship civics test is an oral exam. A USCIS officer asks questions about US history and government, and you answer verbally. Two test versions are currently in use: the 2008 version with 100 questions (answer 6 of 10 correctly to pass) and the 2025 version with 128 questions (answer 12 of 20 correctly to pass). Which version you take depends on when you filed your N-400.
