How to Check Your Status Online
- Go to uscis.gov/casestatus
- Enter your 13-character receipt number (found on your I-797C notice)
- Click 'Check Status'
Common Status Updates Explained
Case Was Received
USCIS has received your N-400 application and it's in the queue for processing. This is the first status you'll see after filing.
Fingerprint Fee Was Received
USCIS has processed your biometrics fee. You should receive a biometrics appointment notice soon.
Case Is Being Actively Reviewed

Interview Was Scheduled
Your citizenship interview has been scheduled! You'll receive a notice with the date, time, and location. Now is the time to intensify your test preparation.
Interview Was Completed
You've completed your interview. If you passed, your case will soon update to 'Case Was Approved.'

Congratulations! Your application has been approved. You'll receive information about your oath ceremony.
